Well, frumps, I have a real eye-opener for you today.  I’ve been in a ‘right swivet’ lately trying to digest and make sense of the American political scene today.  From my vantage point, the best that I’ve been able to conclude is that Americans now reside in two distinct parallel universes.  Now I’ve had many years to hone my garden-variety innate rational, deductive skills; and, in addition, I’ve dabbled in the formal study of Logic, as well as Debate.  The current situation, however, defies Logic, so that’s no help.

I had to see for myself what was really out there, just in case the media had been cherry-picking the choicest wingnuts and egging them on to keep us interested.  What I was seeing on MSM just seemed so far-fetched and unrealistic.  Anyone who tried to sell this stuff as fiction would be promptly dismissed as “over-the-top.” 

And so it is that I infiltrated a number of organizational websites where the “loyal opposition” vent their paranoid fantasies and hatch their sometimes zany but, too often frightening, schemes.  I figured that people might be more natural when they’re just hanging out and planning with kindred spirits - maybe not so hyperbolic.  I honestly felt I had to give these folks the benefit of the doubt and let them prove to be “just folks” when the cameras are not rolling and they are in their own backyards, so to speak.  Boy was I wrong!

What an education!  I could write (and might) a post about every festering hangout I discovered.  And, of course, it’s the Internet so one thing leads to another . . . but, for now, I’m just going to give you a few snippets of chats, comments and snapshots of web activities to support my claim that ALAS! IT IS ALL TRUE! 

Of course just about anything outside of the Welcome page on these sites is password protected.  I think they’re afraid that Rachel Maddow or Jon Stewart will become moles.  That means that one must register to play (I only hope that someday I’ll be able to have my online record expunged).  Every time I sign on to one of these sites I feel like I need a shower after about a half hour. 

The Department of Homeland Security, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti Defamation League have all tried, recently, to warn us that there has been a shocking rise in Hate groups and their activities – with good reason.  I’m afraid that too many of us shrug those warnings off because it is difficult for most of us to relate to the message.  My recent experiences, though, force me to urge any reader here to take that information very, very seriously.

Of course all of this isn’t coming from the internet, a lot of what you see on the Internet is obviously inspired by the ravings of the right wing lunatic fringe on radio and TV: Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, etc.  There is definitely a symbiotic relationship and some of the more creatively challenged zealots have made a career of repackaging and redistributing select bon mots from the daily right wing “spew stew.”

I’ll never regret doing this undercover job because I understand so much more, now – the hate is real and viral and feeds on itself.  These people are not just an angry mob, they are an angry mob being nudged toward hatred by people who are quite well practiced in hate.  Those veterans of Hate are Generals who have been waiting a long time for enough regular troops to lead into battle. 

None of this, by the way, has anything to do with health care reform or the next policy issue to come up, or the one after that – which is why it has been so difficult to understand.  If you look closely at the current protests you’ll see that they are wider in scope, anticipating fights to come over hate crime laws, gun laws, climate change programs, state rights, immigration law, etc.   The most serious pathology seems to currently be confined to a few black lagoons on the Internet.  God help us if it grows legs. 

My reporting on right-wing extremism is not gratuitous and not about entertainment value.  The material that I’ve published, below is exceedingly offensive and I would prefer to never encounter it or need to think about it at all.  I feel obliged, though, to let anyone who’ll listen know what I’ve found bubbling under the surface.  Town Hall behaviors, as deranged as they’ve appeared, are mere child’s play compared with the violence, vitriol and alienation from which they’ve sprung.

I agree with what I  read, recently, on Democratic Underground:

Even though the die-hard right-wing opponents of Obama’s plan represent a small — less than 20% — proportion of the electorate, they’ve successfully captured the public debate. 

We need to learn to recognize and read these events for what they are, study them and learn how to control them so that we are less inclined to give madness a place at the podium.

NY Times: Ruth Bader-Ginsberg found unconscious, victim of debilitating stroke.

Good Morning America: Shocking news revelation from NSA confirming that Barrack Hussein Obama is not a naturalized US Citizen, election declared null and void. Acorn cited in massive investigation proving voter fraud was pervasive. Joint Chiefs of Staff invoke emergency powers to head government during peaceful transiton to new, constitutional government.

Etc., Etc. You get the picture. I’d much rather they all die of shock and awe from the November 4th mass protest. It just smells sweeter. Like Victory.

The “November 4th mass protest” is a reference to a plan these kooks have to call for a general strike which is going to bring the country to its knees on the anniversary of Obama’s winning the 2008 election.  They feel that November will give them plenty of time to sign up nationwide support.

In March, 2009 a Spokane, WA man pleaded guilty to illegally possessing two grenade launchers, 54 grenades, 37 machine guns, eight silencers and a variety of explosives in a storage unit. The man had an “End the Fed” bumper sticker on his vehicle.  In May, another Washington resident was charged with keeping an illegal cache of weapons that included an M-16 machine gun, four silencers, and two guns made by a local gunsmith and inscribed with “Christian warrior”and “NObama.”

In Nebraska, a jury convicted

Allison Klanecky for possession of unregistered grenade components.Prosecutors said that a search of Klanecky’s barn and an underground bunker turned up dozens of containers of explosive powder, fuses and other components that could be used to make up to 93 grenades, plus an unregistered 12-gauge military shotgun called a “Streetsweeper.”  Klanecky was involved in an end-times group called The Prophecy Club that sells conspiracy books and DVDs on everything from the New World Order to globalism and the 9/11 attacks.

So it’s time to start getting together with like-minded people. Time to organize your list of Things To Do, Places To Go and People To Meet. Because when your favorite websites suddenly go dark, when your cell phones and other communications nets no longer work, when the roadblocks go up, when you hear that knock on your midnight door – then it’ll be far, far too late.

It will be too late unless you’re willing, like Atlas, to shrug – and then defend yourself, your family and your country through every art, by every means and with all the skill you possess.

Unless you’re willing to take action, you aren’t going to get your country back, much less preserve your own freedom and dignity – and perhaps even your life.

Everything you can do counts – here’s what you can do right now:

Participate in the nearest Appleseed Project event and join a community of likeminded people where you’ll learn the history and tradition of the first American Revolution – and you’ll learn to shoot like a rifleman while you’re at it.
 
To the extent that you can, remove your children from godless public schools where they’re taught socialism and sheepery. Teach them history and the principles of freedom instead.
Take as much of your personal and business economies underground as you can. Don’t feed the beast that’s feeding on you.
Join up with Glenn Beck’s 912 Project – a latter-day network of the original Committees of Correspondence – to meet more like-minded folks.
Connect with people in your own neighborhood and build your own ‘Alarm and Muster’ network. In the times to come, you’re going to have to know who you can depend upon.

Do it now, folks, for it may be the last chance you’re going to get.

Well, you get the idea . . . unfortunately there are many different brands of craziness all with their sights trained on Obama.  This is just the Post-apocalyptic/ Endgame/ Second American Revolution category.
