Unfortunately, in American Society, regardless of the reasons for one’s unemployed state there is a certain degree of humiliation that accrues. It is an unhappy, insecure state of being and right now we can multiply that by millions. I’m surprised there isn’t a visible smog of misery floating over the U.S. right now. But Americans are, for the most part, sturdy souls and ingenious.
Although UE’s approach is “tongue in cheek,” and while UE doesn’t aspire to being a resource guide, I found plenty there that I wish I’d had access to when I was unemployed. I think anything that is thoughtful, but makes you laugh about your situation, is helpful. And, if you’re going through this right now, it just might help to know that you’re not alone.
