But then, wouldn’t you know it, I just had to stumble upon Anne Coulter’s video pronouncement that “[P]robably a large majority of the hatred for Palin” comes from jealous liberal women in NY. Thank you, Anne, for that, as usual, objective and pithy analysis. Here’s a clip from this memorable media moment that I found on MediaMatters.org:
Now, I gave up trying to figure out what Anne Coulter is smoking a long time ago, but I think she might have moved on to something even more mind-altering, lately. You almost have to feel sorry for talking bobbleheads, like Coulter, now that the neocons have decided to drink the Kool-Aid. They must feel like the Dance Band on the Titanic.
Since I know a lot more about “liberal women in New York” than I’ll ever know about neoconservative snowbillies, in Alaska, I have a message for Anne Coulter: Sarah Palin would have to actually appear on the radar for “liberal women in New York” to work up any jealousy for her. Even you, Anne, would have to admit that your hero, Sarah Palin, is no Margaret Thatcher or Indira Ghandi. In a few month’s time, Palin has singlehandedly set back “women in politics” by about 40 years.
On the other hand, a person calling herself “AlaskaGirl,” who ostensibly does know something about Alaska, made this comment on Wonkette.com and snagged their WIN OF THE AFTERNOON Award for comments:
“She didn’t finish her term as mayor, stepping down to run for Lt. Governor. She didn’t finish her term on the petroleum board ethics panel, she resigned in protest and then ran for Governor. She doesn’t want the office, she just likes running for office. She doesn’t want to (can’t actually) accomplish anything, she just wants to talk about it.”
Palin wanted out and got off the bus, and if Anne Coulter has a brain in her head, she’ll get off at the very next stop.
Mario Almonte, of the Huffington Post, put it well:
Sarah Palin was already wearing out her welcome in Republican circles. Following McCain’s loss against Obama, she cut herself free of the tight orbit her Republican handlers wisely attempted to keep her in, convinced she could do a better job herself. However, lacking any intelligent guidance system, she became something worse — unpredictable. She was like a ball in a pinball machine, bouncing mindless from one public spectacle to another, making a lot of noise in the media and racking up a lot of meaningless points.
Unfortunately, she came to believe that those points gave her real political clout. She bought into the delusion that she was the only viable Republican candidate, and so she could say and do whatever she pleased . . .”
Politics aside, Palin isn’t a stable person and therefore should not, reasonably, be in the running to manage the country.

I find it stunning that the conservatives criticize people who quit a state job to accept an immediate position serving the nation in the administration but find it perfectly fine that Palin quit her job to do….nothing so far as she has stated. They complain about a double standard but they demonstrate the double standard beautifully.

Stunning indeed, my dear. Down through the years, I've noticed that things can get pretty wonky when you're dealing with folks who believe that \”God's on Their Side.\” Rules, regulations, laws are for plebs – conservatives answer to a higher authority. And, judging from recent events, that higher authority doesn't expect a whole lot from them in the way of grace, cooperation or integrity.
think the GOP are utterly dumbfounded. What we are seeing every day is a political party in total disarray (not a pretty sight). The neocons were on such a \”roll\” there for awhile. 9/11 gave them the monolithic boogyman that allowed them to create a reign of terror, with license to throw out any pesky laws or constitutional quibbles in the name of patriotism and safety. But then we started to question, the juggernaut screeched to a halt, and many were \”thrown from the vehicle.\” And neocons hadn't prepared for the possibility that the American people would opt for a return to democracy. IMO, that's why we're seeing a lot of pointless attacks, bad behavior and obstructionism. We're currently under attack by a bunch of misguided missiles who haven't yet realized that the Party's over (literally).
